Birju and Nicola share the same love I have for the beach as well as a more artistic and relaxed style, so it was a perfect setting at King Edwards Bay, Tynemouth to get some warm up shots and have a play. After a few smoke grenades keeping well clear of the beach’s fish bar, Rileys, we popped over to St Mary’s lighthouse just to round things off. Some lovely clouds and a nice and relaxed outing it was clear we had great chemistry moving forward to the wedding.

Although the Baltic is a venue have often shot at it has alway been a place of firsts for me. My first urban graffiti shots were here as well as my first city snow wedding. This was no different, it was the Baltic’s first Indian ceremony. A large thank you needs to go to Rachael and the fantastic staff at the Baltic for their accommodation and styling of this first time wedding.
The morning began with a few shots of the lovely dress which was from Justin Alexander from Bridal WIsh, Newcastle. Hair was done by Kara Scott, and makeup from, Gord George who was a pleasure as always.
We started with a traditional English ceremony with flowers and styling so elequently done by Gyp and Green. Birju was very smart donning his Hugo Boss suit. There were a few tears before moving to the next floor up for a traditional Indian ceremony where it was all about the details.
Seeing the English and Indian families unite with so many important parts to the ceremonies was really an honour to be a part of. Birju was a smart and light hearted person who really shined when Nicola was finally revealed in her Indian dress. She was beautiful.
They started the evening with a cake cutting with a cake from Sticky Sponge. As they went into the night so much of the evening was dedicated to the celebrations and especially the dancing, supported by Hafeez, the DJ from NE4 DJs; which was an absolute blast. I was still singing some of the songs the next day!
It was great to be a part of Nicola and Birju’s special day and really get a feel for who they were as a couple and as families going forward. A real treat of a wedding.
A special thanks to Ben Smith for assisting me with the wedding.
